Bottom of the world. It’s where it happens 🙂
Writing is art and craft; for me, it is imagining a plausible future. We have so much potential. Understanding the universe, imagining the black hole at the centre of the Milky Way, and preparing to settle on Mars. These are achievements to be proud of.
Still, we haven’t handled our past all that well, so what will the future look like as unregulated major technology companies decide and implement our future? The grand possibility is that artificial intelligence will offer much. But what are the likely outcomes? Isaac Asimov invented his three laws of robotics to act as a control over self-aware AI. He understood that artificial intelligence could either serve us or act against us.
Given our fragmented world, what controls will be in place in the future?
I’ll use my blog to discuss writing, science fiction, the importance of that incredible resource, H2O, and the big things we will face as humans. These are topics I would love to engage with you on. Contact me, sign up for my newsletter, or engage with my blog. I live in an extraordinary small town in New Zealand. Greytown is in South Wairarapa. Hot in summer, cool to cold in the winter. It is a place of inspiration. The diverse landscape comprises mountains, wide plains, rivers, and rugged coasts.
I am inspired to write and tackle some of our bigger issues. My inspiration for science fiction is masters such as Asimov, Iain M Banks, and Stephen Baxter. I am also focused on the environment and looming climate change and environmental degradation. Many choices have brought us to a situation where our world is stressed, animals are struggling and dying in large numbers, and our activity compromises our collective future.
Through fiction and non-fiction books, I hope to think outside the square and write engaging pieces that provide insights into our future.
I am passionate about our environment, preventing climate change, and doing something for our children. Working on a history of water in Aotearoa, New Zealand, allows me to contribute to this, even if in a small way.

Writing is a serious business. It is a way of sharing and influencing, and yes, entertaining!
